About Luxury Dog Beds

Most dog beds have a short life in the living room. They arrive, they clash with everything, and by the time people come round for Sunday lunch they've been pushed behind a chair or out to the utility room. The dog follows the bed, or ends up on your sofa. A luxury dog bed earns its place by looking like it belongs, so it stays where the family is, and so do they.

What makes a luxury dog bed

Not gold zips. Fabric you'd pick for your own furniture, and practical details underneath so you can live with it.

  • Bouclé: Blea Tarn in cream, with a cover that zips off for a 30°C wash. Elterwater, with deep walls, a lift-out crumb memory foam cushion and a waterproof layer under the cover.
  • Corduroy: Kendal, in Beige, Grey or Green, over a memory foam core.
  • Velvet: Harewood, a nest with a cushioned rim.
  • Tartan and houndstooth: Eskdale, with an internal waterproof layer and leather carry handles, and Kentmere, soft fibre-filled in four sizes.
  • Pattern: Tetbury, a songbird print on teal.

Choose by how they sleep, then by how it looks

A beautiful bed they won't lie in is an expensive cushion. So start with the dog:

  • If they curl, choose walls: Harewood, Blea Tarn, Elterwater, or Crummock in herringbone.
  • If they lean, choose bolsters: Eskdale, Kentmere, Tetbury or Harrogate.
  • If they need firmer support, choose foam: Kendal's memory foam core, or Nocturne, with profiled egg-crate foam and an open-sided bolster for a dog who curls first and stretches out later.
  • If they want a seat beside yours, look at our dog sofa beds.

Several are soft-filled by design rather than foam; Kentmere and Blea Tarn say so on their pages, while Harrogate, Tetbury and Eskdale do not state their filling, so ask us if it matters.

Practical under the fabric

Pale bouclé and a muddy spaniel can share a house. Look for a cover that comes off, a stated 30°C wash (Blea Tarn, Harewood, Tetbury and Kendal), and a waterproof layer if they come in wet (Eskdale, Elterwater, Nocturne). Always follow the sewn-in care label.

For the garden, too

Two woven day beds, Henley and Torver, take the same idea outside: a canopy, an included cushion and a look closer to garden furniture than pet kit. They're for supervised lounging in suitable weather, not shelter. See all outdoor dog houses and day beds.

Live with it for 100 nights

How a bed looks in your room is hard to judge from a photo, so judge it at home. The indoor beds here come with the 100-night sleep trial: within 100 nights, if it isn't right, we arrange free UK mainland collection and a full refund. One trial per household; damage and other exclusions apply. Henley and Torver are outdoor day beds, so instead they have a 30-day change-of-mind window, with return at your cost, not the 100-night sleep trial. Your statutory rights are unaffected. Free standard UK delivery on orders over £40.

Luxury dog bed questions

Is a luxury dog bed worth it?

If a bed stays in the room your dog wants to be in, it gets used. That's the honest case. The trial means you can find out at home rather than guess.

Will a cream bouclé dog bed stay clean?

Blea Tarn's cover zips off and washes at 30°C, which makes cream a practical choice rather than a brave one. Elterwater's covers come off and its cushion lifts out. Follow the care labels.

Which luxury bed suits an older dog?

Kendal, with its memory foam core, or Nocturne, with egg-crate foam and a waterproof membrane. For more choice, see our beds for older dogs. A bed is for comfort, not treatment, so if they are stiff or in pain, keep talking to your vet.

Fallen for a fabric but not sure of the shape? The Bed Finder works out the shape from how they sleep.

The 100-night trial

Try it for 100 nights.
At our risk, not yours.

Tell us how they get on. If it isn't right, we collect it free and refund every penny.

  1. Night 1

    It arrives

Put it where they already sleep, with a blanket that smells of home on top.

  2. Night 30

    Give them time

Plenty of dogs claim a new bed the first evening. Some take a fortnight and a familiar blanket on top. Both are normal.

  3. Night 100

    Not right? Tell us

Any time inside the 100 nights. If it isn't right, we collect it free and refund every penny.

It doesn't need to be unused. Send it back slept-on, hair and all.

Every memory foam bed also carries the 5-year foam guarantee.

Before you decide

The questions we get asked most.

Something we haven't covered? Ask us

How do I know which size to get?

Measure nose to base of tail while they are lying down, then add 15–20cm. Where a dog falls between two sizes, go up: sprawlers need the length more than you would think. Every product page has a size guide built from that bed's own measurements, with breed examples.

What does 50kg/m³ actually mean?

It is how much foam is packed into every cubic metre. Density and firmness are not the same thing: a low-density foam can feel firm on day one and still collapse by month six. High-density foam keeps its structure under repeated weight, which is why a 50kg/m³ core is still supporting hips and elbows years later.

You'll find it in the orthopaedic beds. The fibre-filled nest beds are built for softness instead, and each product page says which is which.

Can I actually wash it?

On most of the range, yes: properly, not just spot-clean. Covers zip off and go straight in the machine at 30°C, and on the orthopaedic beds a waterproof inner liner keeps wet coats, muddy paws and accidents away from the foam.

One exception worth knowing before you buy: waterproof-fabric beds are wiped clean rather than washed with detergent, because detergent strips the coating off the fabric. Every product page says which applies.

How quickly will it arrive?

Orders go out on working days, tracked from the moment they leave us. Order by 3pm on a dispatch day and it goes the same day; most then arrive within 1–3 working days. Tracking comes by email as soon as it's on its way.

Delivery is free on UK orders over £40. Below that, the delivery charge is shown at checkout before you pay.

What if my dog just won't use it?

Then it comes back. Let your dog sleep on it for up to 100 nights. If it isn't right, we collect it free and refund every penny. Just tell us inside that window. It doesn't need to be unused: send it back slept-on, hair and all. Full terms are in our returns policy.

What does the 5-year guarantee cover?

The foam. Every memory foam bed carries a 5-year guarantee on its core: if it loses its structure under normal use in that time, which is the failure that ends most dog beds, we'll replace it. Covers, zips and liners are wearing parts and sit outside it, and the fibre-filled nest beds are built for softness rather than covered by the foam guarantee. Full terms are in our returns policy.

Will it help a dog with arthritis or stiff hips?

A supportive bed spreads their weight so pressure isn't concentrated on hips, elbows and shoulders, which is what makes lying down and getting back up harder for a dog with joint wear. But a bed is not a treatment and it won't replace veterinary care, so please keep talking to your vet. What it can change is the surface they spend twelve to fourteen hours a day on.
