The 100-Night Sleep Trial
Some dogs walk onto a new bed and claim it before you've cleared away the box. Others sniff it, step round it and lie down on the floor right beside it, as if to make a point. You can't ask a dog in a showroom, which is why our dog bed trial runs for 100 nights.
How the 100-night dog bed trial works
- It starts on delivery. You have 100 nights from the day the bed arrives, which is longer than a whole winter.
- Let them get used to it. Night one isn't the verdict. There are settling-in tips below.
- If it isn't right, tell us within the 100 nights. Get in touch through our contact page and include your order number.
- We arrange the collection. It's free from UK mainland addresses, so you're not paying to send it back.
- You get a full refund.
One trial per household; damage and other exclusions apply. The full returns and guarantee terms are in our refund policy, and delivery is covered on our delivery and returns page. If your address isn't on the UK mainland, please ask us before you order how a return would work for you.
Which products the trial covers
Each product page states the terms for that product. In short, it depends on what you're buying:
- If it's one of our dog beds, from a fibre-filled nest to a memory foam mattress or a raised mesh bed: the 100-night trial applies, with the two exceptions below.
- If it's a personalised bed: it's made to order with your dog's name, so it's excluded from the trial and from change-of-mind returns. Check the size and the spelling carefully before you order.
- If it's the Whinlatter car seat: it's a travel accessory, so check the returns terms or ask us before ordering rather than assuming the bed trial applies.
- If it's an outdoor dog house or day bed: everything in our outdoor range has a 30-day change-of-mind window, with return at your cost, not the 100-night sleep trial.
None of this affects your statutory rights. If anything arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, your full legal rights apply, whichever product it is.
Why our dog bed returns window is 100 nights
A bed can look right and still be wrong for a particular dog: a little short for a sprawler, walls a little high for a dog who's stiffening up, firmer than the flattened bed they're used to. None of that shows in a photograph, and not much of it shows on night one. A hundred nights moves the risk off you and onto us, which is where we think it belongs. The only opinion that counts is your dog's, and they're entitled to take their time.
Separately, some of our memory foam beds carry a 5-year no-flatten guarantee on the foam core, under normal domestic use and subject to the guarantee terms; cover wear and pet damage are not included. Where a bed has it, its product page says so.
Settling-in tips: give them time
- Put it where they already sleep. The spot they've chosen matters more than the spot that suits the room.
- Make it smell like home. Lay their usual blanket, or a jumper you've worn, on top.
- Don't clear the old bed away on day one. Let the new one sit beside it for a few nights, then move the old one out.
- Invite, don't insist. A treat on the new bed, a quiet word when they use it, and no fuss when they don't.
- Expect a different feel. Supportive foam doesn't feel like a bed that has gone flat, and some dogs need a while to trust it.
- On a raised mesh bed, a blanket on top can make the first nights feel more familiar, and helps on cold floors in winter.
If they've had a fair chance and still choose the floor, that's a verdict too, and exactly what the trial is for. Tell us within the 100 nights.
If your dog is in pain, or lying down and getting up have become hard work, talk to your vet as well. A bed is for comfort, not treatment.
