Sizing & suitability

How do I choose the right size bed for my dog?

Measure your dog from nose to base of tail while they are lying down and stretched out, then add 15–20cm. Compare that number against the dimensions listed on each product page. On bolster and nest beds, check the internal sleeping area rather than the outside footprint. Full size guide with a breed chart is here.

What sizes do PawLunova beds come in?

Sizes run from XS for toy breeds up to XL and XXL for giant breeds, and they vary by model. Exact dimensions in centimetres are stated on every product page — we never sell a size as just "Large".

Should I size up or size down?

Size up if your dog sprawls, is still growing, or is elderly and needs room to shift position at night. Stay snug for anxious burrowers and for nest or high-wall beds, where being able to press against the sides is the whole benefit. If your measurement is within 5cm of the top of a size band, go up.

Are PawLunova beds suitable for older dogs or dogs with joint problems?

Our orthopaedic and memory foam beds are designed to spread pressure off the joints and are widely bought for senior dogs. They are comfort products, not veterinary treatments, so if your dog is stiff, sore, limping or has changed how they move, speak to your vet as well. Senior and arthritic beds are here.

Which bed suits a dog that curls up versus one that sprawls?

Curlers and burrowers want a nest or high-wall bed with a raised edge all the way round. Sprawlers want a flat mattress, sized up, with no bolsters in the way. Dogs who rest their chin on the edge want a bolster bed with a firm raised side. The Bed Finder sorts this in four questions.

Are PawLunova beds chew-proof?

No. PawLunova beds are not chew-proof, and neither the foam guarantee nor the 100-night trial covers chewing or destruction by the dog. If you have a determined chewer, it is worth waiting until that phase passes.

Can two dogs share one bed?

Yes, and many do. Measure the larger dog, add roughly half the smaller dog's length, then add the usual 15–20cm. In practice a pair will still spend half the night pressed together in a third of the space, but on a warm night they want the option.

Foam & construction

What are PawLunova beds made of?

Our memory foam beds are built in three layers: a high-density memory foam core, a sealed waterproof liner around it, and a cover that zips off and machine washes at 30°C. Many models add bolstered sides. The construction of each bed is listed on its product page.

What foam density do you use?

Our memory foam beds use a 50kg/m³ high-density core. For context, ordinary upholstery foam is typically 25–35kg/m³ and a lot of budget "orthopaedic" beds sit below 25kg/m³, which is why they flatten within months. Density is the number that predicts how long a bed keeps supporting your dog. Full explanation here.

What does CertiPUR-US certification mean?

It is an independent foam certification covering what is not in the foam: no ozone depleters, no PBDE/TDCPP/TCEP flame retardants, no mercury, lead or other heavy metals, no formaldehyde, no regulated phthalates, and tested for low VOC emissions. It is a chemical-content standard, not a comfort rating — density is what tells you the bed is good.

Are the covers removable and machine washable?

Yes. The cover unzips and machine washes at 30°C on a gentle cycle with a non-biological detergent. Air dry flat — never tumble dry, which shrinks the cover so it no longer fits back over the foam. Full care instructions here.

Is there a waterproof liner?

Yes, sealed around the foam core on our memory foam beds. Wet coats, muddy paws, spilt water and accidents from older dogs are stopped before they reach the foam. The liner is wiped clean by hand rather than machine washed — machine washing degrades waterproof membranes.

Where are PawLunova beds made?

PawLunova is a British brand, run from Bury in Greater Manchester, and our beds are produced by established manufacturing partners building to a specification we set and check. We do not operate our own workshop, and we would rather tell you that plainly than imply otherwise — what we control, and what actually decides how your dog sleeps, is the foam specification and the guarantee behind it.

Is memory foam safe for dogs?

Yes, when the foam is certified and stays sealed inside its liner and cover. Ours is CertiPUR-US certified, which tests for the substances you would not want a dog sleeping against, and low VOC emissions. If a cover is torn open and foam becomes accessible, take the bed out of use — foam is not safe to swallow.

My new bed has a slight smell. Is that normal?

New foam can carry a faint manufacturing smell for the first few days. Unzip the cover and let the core air in a well-ventilated room for 24–48 hours and it will clear. If a strong smell persists beyond that, email us and we will replace the bed.

Delivery

Where does PawLunova deliver to?

Throughout the United Kingdom, and internationally to the United States and Canada.

How much does delivery cost?

UK Standard is £4.99 and free on orders over £40. UK Express is £6.99. Shipping to the United States and Canada is calculated at checkout. All charges are shown in full before you pay, with nothing added later.

How long does delivery take?

UK Standard arrives in 3–5 working days from dispatch, or 4–6 during busy periods. UK Express is 2–3 working days. The United States and Canada take 6–9 working days. Add the 1–2 day dispatch window for your real arrival date.

How quickly are orders dispatched?

Within 1–2 working days, by tracked courier. Orders placed at weekends or on bank holidays are processed the next working day. You will get a dispatch email with tracking the moment your bed leaves.

What if my parcel is late, lost or damaged?

Goods remain our responsibility until they reach you, so it is our problem to solve. Email Abbas@pawlunova.co.uk or call +44 7598 327268 and we will resolve it by replacement or refund. Please report visible damage within 48 hours of delivery where possible — this does not affect your statutory rights.

Trial, returns & guarantee

What is the 100-night trial?

You have 100 nights from delivery to decide. If the bed is not right for your dog, we collect it free of charge from anywhere in UK mainland and refund every penny — including any delivery charge you paid. Your dog can absolutely have slept on it; that is the entire point.

Why 100 nights rather than the usual 14 days?

Because dogs take one to two weeks just to stop treating a new bed as a strange object, which means a 14-day window expires almost exactly when you would start learning something useful. 100 nights is long enough to find out the truth.

How do I start a return?

Email Abbas@pawlunova.co.uk with your order number and a line about what did not work. No form, no portal. We book the courier and tell you when they are coming. You do not need the original packaging.

Who pays for return postage?

We do, for UK mainland trial returns and for anything faulty, not as described or sent in error. For orders outside the UK the trial still applies but return shipping is at your cost.

How long does a refund take?

Within 14 days of the bed reaching us, to your original payment method. If you are using your statutory 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, we refund within 14 days of receiving the bed or of you providing proof of postage, whichever is sooner.

What does the 5-year no-flatten guarantee cover?

The memory foam core losing its structural shape under normal domestic use, by the dog the bed was sized for, within five years — we replace the bed. It excludes chewing or destruction by the dog, cover fabric wear, zips, misuse, commercial or kennel use, and normal cosmetic ageing.

How do I claim on the foam guarantee?

Email us your order number with two photographs: one of the bed empty, and one with something heavy placed where your dog usually lies, so the compression is visible. We handle it from there.

What if the bed arrives faulty?

Within 30 days of delivery you can reject it for a full refund; after that we will repair or replace it. We pay the return postage. Email Abbas@pawlunova.co.uk with your order number and photographs. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.

Care & cleaning

How do I wash a PawLunova dog bed?

Vacuum the hair off first, unzip the cover, wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle with non-bio detergent, and air dry flat. Wipe the waterproof liner by hand. Never wash or soak the foam core. Step-by-step instructions here.

How often should I wash my dog's bed?

Every two to four weeks for most dogs, weekly for puppies, older dogs or dogs who spend a lot of time outdoors. Vacuum the cover in between — most of what makes a bed unpleasant is hair and dander, and that comes off without a wash.

Can I tumble dry the cover?

No. Tumble drying shrinks the cover so it will no longer fit back over the foam, and it is the most common way a good bed gets ruined. Air dry flat, away from radiators and direct sunlight, and refit only when completely dry.

How do I get the dog smell out?

Sprinkle dry bicarbonate of soda over the cover, leave 20–30 minutes, vacuum it off, then wash at 30°C with half a cup of white vinegar in the drum. Avoid fragranced sprays, and never use ammonia-based cleaners — ammonia smells like urine to a dog and can trigger re-marking.

Can I buy a replacement cover?

Email Abbas@pawlunova.co.uk with your order number and we will tell you what is available for your model. A shrunken or damaged cover is not the end of the bed.
