About this bed

Sherpa to sprawl on, with no walls in the way.

Seathwaite is an open pillow dog mattress with a green stonewashed exterior, a sherpa-style sleeping surface, virgin fibre cushioning, leather handles and a removable machine-washable cover. Medium (100 × 65cm) and Large (120 × 80cm).

Even in the middle of winter, some dogs refuse a bed with sides. They sprawl diagonally across the rug, legs out, changing position four times an hour, and end up on the cold floor beside whatever bolstered bed you bought them. Seathwaite gives a sprawler what they actually want: an open mattress with a soft sherpa-style surface, big enough to stretch across, with leather handles so you can move it to wherever the warm spot is tonight.

What they get

  • No sides at all: An open pillow format they can flop onto from any direction.
  • Sherpa where they lie: A soft, warm sleeping surface over virgin fibre cushioning.
  • Soft, not firm: Fibre filled by design. For firm support, see our memory foam mattresses.
  • Leather handles: Move it one-handed from the kitchen to beside the sofa.
  • A washable cover: It comes off and goes in the machine.

Why it is worth the money

Stonewashed fabric, sherpa lining and leather handles are the parts you touch and look at every day, and they are the first things cut on a cheaper bed. You have 100 nights to decide. If they do not take to it, we collect it free from the UK mainland and refund you in full.

Size and fit

Size Dimensions (cm)
Medium 100 × 65 × 20
Large 120 × 80 × 20

The whole surface is usable, so measure your dog lying on their side, nose to base of tail, and add 15 to 20cm. Message us their breed and weight and we will tell you honestly which one fits.

Everyday care

Remove the cover and machine wash at 30°C. Air-dry only. The leather handles have their own care instructions.

100 nights to decide

100 nights is longer than a whole winter. Plenty of time to know.

Try it at home for 100 nights from delivery. If it is not right, we arrange free UK mainland collection and a full refund. One trial per household; damage and other exclusions apply. Read the full returns and guarantee terms.

Free standard UK delivery on orders over £40. Check delivery timings and any product-specific lead time.

Choose their size and give the sprawler a soft landing.

Care and washing

The cover unzips completely and machine-washes at 30°C. On our waterproof-lined beds a sealed liner sits under the cover, so wet coats, muddy paws and accidents never reach the foam core. You wash the cover; you never have to wash the bed.

Before you decide

The questions we get asked most.

Something we haven't covered? Ask us

How do I know which size to get?

Measure nose to base of tail while they are lying down, then add 15–20cm. Where a dog falls between two sizes, go up: sprawlers need the length more than you would think. Every product page has a size guide built from that bed's own measurements, with breed examples.

What does 50kg/m³ actually mean?

It is how much foam is packed into every cubic metre. Density and firmness are not the same thing: a low-density foam can feel firm on day one and still collapse by month six. High-density foam keeps its structure under repeated weight, which is why a 50kg/m³ core is still supporting hips and elbows years later.

You'll find it in the orthopaedic beds. The fibre-filled nest beds are built for softness instead, and each product page says which is which.

Can I actually wash it?

On most of the range, yes: properly, not just spot-clean. Covers zip off and go straight in the machine at 30°C, and on the orthopaedic beds a waterproof inner liner keeps wet coats, muddy paws and accidents away from the foam.

One exception worth knowing before you buy: waterproof-fabric beds are wiped clean rather than washed with detergent, because detergent strips the coating off the fabric. Every product page says which applies.

How quickly will it arrive?

Orders go out on working days, tracked from the moment they leave us. Order by 3pm on a dispatch day and it goes the same day; most then arrive within 1–3 working days. Tracking comes by email as soon as it's on its way.

Delivery is free on UK orders over £40. Below that, the delivery charge is shown at checkout before you pay.

What if my dog just won't use it?

Then it comes back. Let your dog sleep on it for up to 100 nights. If it isn't right, we collect it free and refund every penny. Just tell us inside that window. It doesn't need to be unused: send it back slept-on, hair and all. Full terms are in our returns policy.

What does the 5-year guarantee cover?

The foam. Every memory foam bed carries a 5-year guarantee on its core: if it loses its structure under normal use in that time, which is the failure that ends most dog beds, we'll replace it. Covers, zips and liners are wearing parts and sit outside it, and the fibre-filled nest beds are built for softness rather than covered by the foam guarantee. Full terms are in our returns policy.

Will it help a dog with arthritis or stiff hips?

A supportive bed spreads their weight so pressure isn't concentrated on hips, elbows and shoulders, which is what makes lying down and getting back up harder for a dog with joint wear. But a bed is not a treatment and it won't replace veterinary care, so please keep talking to your vet. What it can change is the surface they spend twelve to fourteen hours a day on.
