About this bed

Sherpa and soft walls, for the dog who burrows.

Loweswater is a high-walled bolster nest dog bed in green stonewashed fabric, with a deep sherpa-fleece cushion, springy virgin fibre filling, a non-slip base and zipped covers that wash at 30°C. Five sizes, XS to XL.

Some dogs drop and sleep. Others spend ten minutes turning, kneading and burrowing before they settle, and on a cold night they spend even longer. What they are looking for is soft give on every side. Loweswater has cushioned walls all the way round and a deep sherpa-fleece cushion in the middle that moulds around them as they curl up, from toy breeds in the XS to retrievers in the XL.

What they get

  • Cushioned walls all round: Somewhere for a chin or a back, whichever way they turn.
  • A sherpa-fleece cushion: Soft, warm and deep where they actually lie.
  • Virgin fibre filling: Soft and springy by design. This is a nest, not a firm foam mattress. If your dog needs firm support, see our memory foam beds.
  • Covers that come off: Zipped, removable and machine washable at 30°C.
  • A non-slip base: It stays put on wood, laminate and tiles.

Why it is worth the money

Upholstery-weight stonewashed fabric and a proper sherpa cushion feel and wear differently from printed polyester. Every cover comes off for the wash. And the sizing runs from toy breeds to retrievers, so a small dog is not lost in a bed built for a labrador. You have 100 nights to decide. If they do not settle into it, we collect it free from the UK mainland and refund you in full.

Size and fit

Size Outside (cm) Sleeping area (cm)
XS 45 × 35 × 20 33 × 23
Small 55 × 40 × 22 42 × 28
Medium 65 × 45 × 25 48 × 34
Large 70 × 55 × 28 50 × 42
XL 90 × 70 × 32 72 × 55

Go by the sleeping area, not the outside. Measure your dog curled up, and size up if you are between sizes. Message us their breed and weight and we will tell you honestly which one to take.

Everyday care

Remove the zipped covers and machine wash at 30°C. Air-dry before refitting. Do not tumble dry.

100 nights to decide

Care and washing

The cover unzips completely and machine-washes at 30°C. On our waterproof-lined beds a sealed liner sits under the cover, so wet coats, muddy paws and accidents never reach the foam core. You wash the cover; you never have to wash the bed.

Before you decide

The questions we get asked most.

Something we haven't covered? Ask us

How do I know which size to get?

Measure nose to base of tail while they are lying down, then add 15–20cm. Where a dog falls between two sizes, go up: sprawlers need the length more than you would think. Every product page has a size guide built from that bed's own measurements, with breed examples.

What does 50kg/m³ actually mean?

It is how much foam is packed into every cubic metre. Density and firmness are not the same thing: a low-density foam can feel firm on day one and still collapse by month six. High-density foam keeps its structure under repeated weight, which is why a 50kg/m³ core is still supporting hips and elbows years later.

You'll find it in the orthopaedic beds. The fibre-filled nest beds are built for softness instead, and each product page says which is which.

Can I actually wash it?

On most of the range, yes: properly, not just spot-clean. Covers zip off and go straight in the machine at 30°C, and on the orthopaedic beds a waterproof inner liner keeps wet coats, muddy paws and accidents away from the foam.

One exception worth knowing before you buy: waterproof-fabric beds are wiped clean rather than washed with detergent, because detergent strips the coating off the fabric. Every product page says which applies.

How quickly will it arrive?

Orders go out on working days, tracked from the moment they leave us. Order by 3pm on a dispatch day and it goes the same day; most then arrive within 1–3 working days. Tracking comes by email as soon as it's on its way.

Delivery is free on UK orders over £40. Below that, the delivery charge is shown at checkout before you pay.

What if my dog just won't use it?

Then it comes back. Let your dog sleep on it for up to 100 nights. If it isn't right, we collect it free and refund every penny. Just tell us inside that window. It doesn't need to be unused: send it back slept-on, hair and all. Full terms are in our returns policy.

What does the 5-year guarantee cover?

The foam. Every memory foam bed carries a 5-year guarantee on its core: if it loses its structure under normal use in that time, which is the failure that ends most dog beds, we'll replace it. Covers, zips and liners are wearing parts and sit outside it, and the fibre-filled nest beds are built for softness rather than covered by the foam guarantee. Full terms are in our returns policy.

Will it help a dog with arthritis or stiff hips?

A supportive bed spreads their weight so pressure isn't concentrated on hips, elbows and shoulders, which is what makes lying down and getting back up harder for a dog with joint wear. But a bed is not a treatment and it won't replace veterinary care, so please keep talking to your vet. What it can change is the surface they spend twelve to fourteen hours a day on.
