About this bed

Houndstooth, for the season of coats and scarves.

Kentmere is a bolster dog bed with a classic houndstooth exterior, raised cushioned sides, soft fibre filling and a removable washable cover. Four sizes, Small to XL.

Winter is houndstooth weather. Wool coats, warm scarves, a room with the lamps on by four. Kentmere brings the same pattern to the bed in the corner, a classic that has sat in British homes for a century, with raised cushioned sides for your dog to lean into and soft fibre filling to sink into. It looks right in the room you spend your winter evenings in, which is exactly where they want to be.

What they get

  • Raised sides: A cushioned edge around the resting area to rest a chin against.
  • Soft fibre filling: Yielding rather than firm. If your dog needs firm support, see our memory foam beds.
  • Houndstooth throughout: A pattern that belongs in a living room rather than a utility room.
  • A washable cover: It comes off for cleaning, following the sewn-in care label.
  • Four sizes: Small to XL.

Why it is worth the money

A bed you like the look of stays in the room where your dog wants to be. The ones you do not end up in the hall. That is the whole case, and it is a better one than it sounds. You have 100 nights to decide. If they do not take to it, we collect it free from the UK mainland and refund you in full.

Size and fit

Four sizes, Small to XL. The raised sides take up part of the outside footprint, so measure your dog curled up as well as stretched out. Message us their breed and weight and we will tell you honestly which one to take.

Everyday care

Remove the cover and wash it following the sewn-in care label. Air-dry fully before refitting.

100 nights to decide

100 nights is longer than a whole winter. Plenty of time to know.

Try it at home for 100 nights from delivery. If it is not right, we arrange free UK mainland collection and a full refund. One trial per household; damage and other exclusions apply. Read the full returns and guarantee terms.

Free standard UK delivery on orders over £40. Check delivery timings and any product-specific lead time.

Choose their size and give their corner a winter coat.

Care and washing

The cover unzips completely and machine-washes at 30°C. On our waterproof-lined beds a sealed liner sits under the cover, so wet coats, muddy paws and accidents never reach the foam core. You wash the cover; you never have to wash the bed.

Before you decide

The questions we get asked most.

Something we haven't covered? Ask us

How do I know which size to get?

Measure nose to base of tail while they are lying down, then add 15–20cm. Where a dog falls between two sizes, go up: sprawlers need the length more than you would think. Every product page has a size guide built from that bed's own measurements, with breed examples.

What does 50kg/m³ actually mean?

It is how much foam is packed into every cubic metre. Density and firmness are not the same thing: a low-density foam can feel firm on day one and still collapse by month six. High-density foam keeps its structure under repeated weight, which is why a 50kg/m³ core is still supporting hips and elbows years later.

You'll find it in the orthopaedic beds. The fibre-filled nest beds are built for softness instead, and each product page says which is which.

Can I actually wash it?

On most of the range, yes: properly, not just spot-clean. Covers zip off and go straight in the machine at 30°C, and on the orthopaedic beds a waterproof inner liner keeps wet coats, muddy paws and accidents away from the foam.

One exception worth knowing before you buy: waterproof-fabric beds are wiped clean rather than washed with detergent, because detergent strips the coating off the fabric. Every product page says which applies.

How quickly will it arrive?

Orders go out on working days, tracked from the moment they leave us. Order by 3pm on a dispatch day and it goes the same day; most then arrive within 1–3 working days. Tracking comes by email as soon as it's on its way.

Delivery is free on UK orders over £40. Below that, the delivery charge is shown at checkout before you pay.

What if my dog just won't use it?

Then it comes back. Let your dog sleep on it for up to 100 nights. If it isn't right, we collect it free and refund every penny. Just tell us inside that window. It doesn't need to be unused: send it back slept-on, hair and all. Full terms are in our returns policy.

What does the 5-year guarantee cover?

The foam. Every memory foam bed carries a 5-year guarantee on its core: if it loses its structure under normal use in that time, which is the failure that ends most dog beds, we'll replace it. Covers, zips and liners are wearing parts and sit outside it, and the fibre-filled nest beds are built for softness rather than covered by the foam guarantee. Full terms are in our returns policy.

Will it help a dog with arthritis or stiff hips?

A supportive bed spreads their weight so pressure isn't concentrated on hips, elbows and shoulders, which is what makes lying down and getting back up harder for a dog with joint wear. But a bed is not a treatment and it won't replace veterinary care, so please keep talking to your vet. What it can change is the surface they spend twelve to fourteen hours a day on.
