Martindale Memory Foam Bolster Dog Bed
Pressure-relieving support for ageing joints, under a cover you can actually wash.
about 12p a night over the 5-year guarantee — How we worked this out
£219.00 ÷ (5 years × 365 nights) = 12.00p a night. A way of seeing the cost over the bed's guaranteed life, not a payment plan.

About this bed
Three sides to lean on. Nothing to climb on a cold night.
Martindale is a memory foam bolster dog bed in Large (96 × 71 × 16.5cm) and XL (104 × 68.5 × 16.5cm), with memory foam over an egg-crate layer, bolsters on three sides, an open front, a fleece sleeping surface, linen-effect sides and a non-slip base.
Winter nights are long, and the bed is where they spend most of them. Watch how your dog gets into their current one. If there is a pause before they step in, or they stand on the edge and squash it flat, the shape is wrong. Martindale leaves the front open so they walk straight on, keeps three bolstered sides high enough to lean into, and puts fleece and two layers of foam underneath them for the hours in between.
What they get
- Memory foam over egg-crate foam: One layer to contour, one to support.
- Three bolstered sides: An edge for a chin, a back or a hip, and an open front to walk in.
- Fleece on the inside, linen-effect on the outside: Soft where they lie, presentable where you see it.
- A non-slip base: It stays put on wood, laminate and tile.
Why it is worth the money
Two foam layers is the specification most brands skip at this price, because you cannot see it in a photograph. It is also the only part of a dog bed that decides whether it is still good in year three. The foam carries a 5-year no-flatten guarantee. And you have 100 nights to decide. If they do not take to it, we collect it free from the UK mainland and refund you in full.
Size and fit
Two sizes: Large, 96 × 71 × 16.5cm, and XL, 104 × 68.5 × 16.5cm, outside measurements. The bolsters take up part of that. Measure your dog lying on their side, nose to base of tail, and add 15 to 20cm. Message us their breed and weight and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
Everyday care
Follow the sewn-in care label on the cover. Air-dry fully before refitting. Never wash or soak the foam.
If your dog is in pain, recovering or finding it hard to move, speak to your vet about the right resting surface. A bed is for comfort. It is not a treatment.
100 nights to decide. 5 years on the foam.
100 nights is longer than a whole winter. Plenty of time to know.
Try it at home for 100 nights from delivery. If it is not right, we arrange free UK mainland collection and a full refund. One trial per household; damage and other exclusions apply. The foam core also has a 5-year no-flatten guarantee under normal domestic use, subject to the guarantee terms; cover wear and pet damage are not included. Read the full returns and guarantee terms.

Delivery and returns

- UK delivery is free on orders over £40.

Care and washing
The cover unzips completely and machine-washes at 30°C. On our waterproof-lined beds a sealed liner sits under the cover, so wet coats, muddy paws and accidents never reach the foam core. You wash the cover; you never have to wash the bed.

What 50kg/m³ actually means
Density isn't firmness.
Density is the weight of a cubic metre of foam. It is not the same thing as firmness, which is why a cheap bed can feel reassuringly solid in the shop and still be flat by March. Firmness is how it feels on day one. Density is how much foam is in there to keep feeling that way.
Our orthopaedic cores are 50kg/m³, dense enough to hold hips, elbows and spine off the floor and still be doing it years from now. The fibre-filled nest beds are made differently, and each product page says which is which.

Before you decide
The questions we get asked most.
Something we haven't covered? Ask us
How do I know which size to get?
Measure nose to base of tail while they are lying down, then add 15–20cm. Where a dog falls between two sizes, go up: sprawlers need the length more than you would think. Every product page has a size guide built from that bed's own measurements, with breed examples.
What does 50kg/m³ actually mean?
It is how much foam is packed into every cubic metre. Density and firmness are not the same thing: a low-density foam can feel firm on day one and still collapse by month six. High-density foam keeps its structure under repeated weight, which is why a 50kg/m³ core is still supporting hips and elbows years later.
You'll find it in the orthopaedic beds. The fibre-filled nest beds are built for softness instead, and each product page says which is which.
Can I actually wash it?
On most of the range, yes: properly, not just spot-clean. Covers zip off and go straight in the machine at 30°C, and on the orthopaedic beds a waterproof inner liner keeps wet coats, muddy paws and accidents away from the foam.
One exception worth knowing before you buy: waterproof-fabric beds are wiped clean rather than washed with detergent, because detergent strips the coating off the fabric. Every product page says which applies.
How quickly will it arrive?
Orders go out on working days, tracked from the moment they leave us. Order by 3pm on a dispatch day and it goes the same day; most then arrive within 1–3 working days. Tracking comes by email as soon as it's on its way.
Delivery is free on UK orders over £40. Below that, the delivery charge is shown at checkout before you pay.
What if my dog just won't use it?
Then it comes back. Let your dog sleep on it for up to 100 nights. If it isn't right, we collect it free and refund every penny. Just tell us inside that window. It doesn't need to be unused: send it back slept-on, hair and all. Full terms are in our returns policy.
What does the 5-year guarantee cover?
The foam. Every memory foam bed carries a 5-year guarantee on its core: if it loses its structure under normal use in that time, which is the failure that ends most dog beds, we'll replace it. Covers, zips and liners are wearing parts and sit outside it, and the fibre-filled nest beds are built for softness rather than covered by the foam guarantee. Full terms are in our returns policy.
Will it help a dog with arthritis or stiff hips?
A supportive bed spreads their weight so pressure isn't concentrated on hips, elbows and shoulders, which is what makes lying down and getting back up harder for a dog with joint wear. But a bed is not a treatment and it won't replace veterinary care, so please keep talking to your vet. What it can change is the surface they spend twelve to fourteen hours a day on.
