Thirlmere Felt Nest Dog Bed for Dogs up to 20kg

For the dog who leans. Felt walls that stay up when they lean in.

Edge to edge foam means our dog uses the whole bed. Very good.

Our Dachshund has a history of spinal issues, so stepping over raised edges was a risk. The Ambleside edge-to-edge bed is completely flat. She walks straight on and the memory foam supports her long spine evenly without pressure points.

Felt walls that stay up all winter.

Thirlmere is a felt nest dog bed with structured walls, padded high sides and a defined nest-shaped sleeping space. Small (45 × 55cm), Medium (54 × 74cm) and Large (66 × 74cm).

On cold nights a curled-up sleeper leans hard into the side of their nest. On most nest beds the walls give way and fold flat, and within a month the bed they chose for its walls has none left. Thirlmere is built in structured felt, so the padded high sides stand up on their own when a dog puts their weight against them, night after night, right through the winter.

    What they get

    • Structured felt walls: They stand up on their own instead of flopping outward.
    • Padded high sides: Firm enough to lean on, padded where they rest against them.
    • A cushioned base: Soft underfoot inside a properly enclosed nest shape.
    • Three sizes: 45 × 55cm to 66 × 74cm.

Why it is worth the money

A wall that stays up is the entire point of a nest bed, and it is what goes first on a soft-sided one. Structured felt is the answer to that. You have 100 nights to decide. If they do not settle into it, we collect it free from the UK mainland and refund you in full.

    Size and fit

    Size Dimensions (cm)
    Small 45 × 55
    Medium 54 × 74
    Large 66 × 74

These are outside measurements and the structured walls take up a good part of them, so measure your dog curled up and size up if you are between sizes. Message us their breed and weight and we will tell you honestly which one to take.

    Everyday care

Follow the sewn-in care label and air-dry. Do not machine wash the felt structure.

    100 nights to decide

100 nights is longer than a whole winter. Plenty of time to know.

Try it at home for 100 nights from delivery. If it is not right, we arrange free UK mainland collection and a full refund. One trial per household; damage and other exclusions apply. Read the full returns and guarantee terms.

Choose their size and give them walls that hold.

Processing: Orders are packed within 1-2 business days.

    Guarantee

The 5-year foam guarantee covers the memory foam core of every PawLunova memory foam bed. If the core loses its shape under normal domestic use within 5 years, we replace it. Whether this bed is covered is shown in the "Included with this bed" list above.

Covers, zips, liners, waterproof layers, bolsters, fibre filling and non-slip bases are wearing parts and aren't included. Nor is damage from chewing, scratching, tearing or accidents, foam damaged by liquid (including urine) or by washing, softening that recovers when the bed is empty, or commercial use.

    Why the Thirlmere

What the Thirlmere does for them.

For the dog who leans. Structured felt walls that stay up when a curled-up dog leans in.

    • Best for: Curled-up sleepers who lean.
    • Made in Yorkshire.

    Which size?

    Small · 45 × 55cm£99
    Medium · 54 × 74cm£109
    Large · 66 × 74cm£129

Measure nose to base of tail lying down and add about 20cm. Between two sizes? Go up. Unsure? Send us their breed and weight.

    Before you add it

Is the Thirlmere right for your dog?

Honest answers now beat a return later. Here's who this bed is for, and who it isn't.

    Yes, if

    • They've started taking a moment to get up in the morning.
    • They've started choosing the floor over their old bed, or circling and resettling on it.
    • You've already paid for a bed that went flat, and you'd rather not do it twice.
    • Made with curled-up sleepers who lean in mind.
    • Sizes run up to Large · 66 × 74cm. Measure them lying stretched out, add about 20cm, and compare with the size cards above.

    Think twice if

    • They chew beds. Nothing on this site is chew-proof, and covers sit outside the guarantee.
    • You're guessing the size. Don't: measure them lying down against the size cards above, or send us a photo.
    • They get up stiff. This is a fibre bed, soft rather than supportive, so a foam bed will do more for them.

    Straight answers

    • A bed is for comfort, not a treatment. If they're in pain, your vet comes first, and we'll never tell you otherwise.
    • Every size is in centimetres. Where a measurement is the outside rather than the sleeping area, the page says so.
    • 100 nights to decide, slept on. If it isn't right, tell us and it comes back, collected free from the UK mainland, refunded in full.
    Straight answer

    Soft, not firm.

The Thirlmere is a fibre bed: soft to sink into rather than supportive underneath, and it isn't under the foam guarantee. For a dog who gets up stiff, a foam bed will do more for them. For a dog who wants somewhere soft, this is it. The 100-night trial applies either way.

Inside the Thirlmere, top to bottom

    1. Cover

Follow the care label sewn into it.

    2. Core

Soft filling. Not under the foam guarantee; the 100-night trial still applies.

    Wet coats, accidents and washing

The bit nobody mentions until February.

A bed that can't be washed is a bed you'll throw away. Here's how the Thirlmere stays a bed you'd let in the living room.

    Washing it

Follow the care label sewn into the cover. Foam is never machine washed. Care guide.

    Accidents and wet dogs

The Thirlmere is not listed with a waterproof liner, so treat it as having none. If accidents are likely, keep a second cover ready and ask us before you order.

One on the bed, one in the wash

Ask us about a spare cover before you order. A second cover means the bed is never out of action on wash day.

If it arrives rolled or vacuum-packed, unroll it somewhere ventilated and give it a few hours to come back to full depth before they try it.

    The 100-night trial

100 nights to be sure. At our risk, not yours.

Nobody expects a trial on a dog bed. We think it's the only honest way to sell one, because a bed only proves itself at 2am.

    1. Night 1

      It arrives

Put it where they already sleep, with a blanket that smells of home on top.

    2. Night 50

      Give them time

Plenty of dogs claim a new bed the first evening. Some take a fortnight. Both are normal, and you've got 100.

    3. Night 100

      Not right? Tell us

Any time inside the 100 nights. We collect it free from the UK mainland and refund every penny.

It doesn't need to be unused. Send it back slept on, hair and all.

A few products aren't part of the trial. Where that's the case, the product page says so before you buy.

    Straight talk

    Here's what we can promise.

Every size on the site is in centimetres, and where a measurement is the outside rather than the sleeping area, the page says so.

The delivery dates above the button are worked out for an order placed today. Where a bed ships from a partner warehouse rather than our own stock, the page says so before you order.
    On delivery, from Abbas

I'm Abbas. I answer every message myself, usually the same day. If a bed isn't right, you tell me, and it comes back.

    Before you add it

Questions about this bed, in your words.

How do I know which size to get?

Measure nose to base of tail while they're lying down, then add about 20cm. Between two sizes? Go up. The size cards above list the sleeping area where we've measured it. Still unsure? Send us their breed and weight.

    What size for a Labrador?

Most adult Labradors need the Large or the XL, and a sprawler needs the bigger of the two. Measure them lying stretched out, nose to base of tail, add about 20cm, and compare with the sleeping area on the size cards. If that lands between two sizes, go up: a bed that's slightly too big is never the problem, one that's too small always is.

Will it actually be memory foam, or that egg-crate stuff?

The "What's inside" card above says exactly what's in this bed: the core type and, where we've measured it, the depth and the density. If it's memory foam over egg-crate foam, it says so. If it's fibre, it says so. We'd rather you knew now than in month three.

What if my dog just won't use it?

Then it comes back. Put it where they already sleep, with a blanket that smells of home on top. If after a fortnight it still isn't right, tell us any time inside the 100 nights and we collect it free from the UK mainland and refund every penny.

He's not a 'bed dog'. He'd rather have the floor.

A dog who picks the kitchen floor over his bed has usually done the comparison: the floor is flatter and firmer than a bed that has bottomed out. Put the new one where he already sleeps, old blanket on top, and give him a fortnight. If he still won't, it comes back inside the 100 nights and you're refunded in full.

She's started having the odd accident. Is it waterproof?

Where this bed has a waterproof inner liner, it's listed under "Why the bed" above, and the liner sits between cover and foam so an accident stops before the core. Where it doesn't, the cover comes off and washes and the care guide shows how to protect the foam. Either way, a second cover means one is always on the bed.

    Can I wash it?

Where the cover comes off, it washes following the care label sewn into it. Coated covers wipe clean. Foam is never machine washed. See the care guide.

Can I really send something this big back?

Yes. Inside the 100 nights, tell us and we arrange collection free from the UK mainland, slept on, hair and all, and refund every penny. You don't need to find a box that fits.

    When will it arrive?

The dates for an order placed today are above the button. Own stock is dispatched in 1 to 2 working days and delivered 1 to 2 working days later. Free UK delivery.
