Our Dachshund has a history of spinal issues, so stepping over raised edges was a risk. The Ambleside edge-to-edge bed is completely flat. She walks straight on and the memory foam supports her long spine evenly without pressure points.
For the small dog who always ends up with their chin on your foot.
Hartsop is a memory foam chaise dog bed, 76 × 51 × 15cm, with an egg-crate memory foam top layer over a foam base, an L-shaped bolster along two sides, a soft flannel sleeping surface and a waterproof film beneath the cover.
Smaller dogs rarely sleep flat. They curl into the corner of the sofa, prop their chin on a cushion, or wedge themselves against your leg so they can keep one eye on you. That is how they feel safe enough to let go. Hartsop gives them that corner on the floor: a bolster along two sides to tuck into, a raised edge for the chin, and two open sides so they never feel shut in. Underneath, egg-crate memory foam takes their shape, and the flannel feels warm from the first minute on a cold evening.
What they get
-
An L-shaped bolster: Two cushioned sides to lean on, with a chin rest where they meet.
-
Egg-crate memory foam: A profiled memory foam top over a foam base, so they sink in rather than lie on top.
-
Protected from accidents: A waterproof film sits under the sleeping surface.
-
Flannel and linen-effect: A soft flannel bed with breathable linen-effect sides that sit happily next to your furniture.
-
It stays put: A non-slip base for wooden floors and tiles.
Best for: Small and medium dogs who like a corner to curl into, at home or in a crate.
Why it is worth the money
A lot of beds at this size are fibre-filled cushions, and fibre packs down with use. Hartsop has memory foam in it, covered by our 5-year no-flatten guarantee, which works out at about 7p a night. And you have 100 nights to decide. If they do not take to it, we collect it free from the UK mainland and refund you in full.
Hartsop, Skelwith or Esthwaite? Hartsop and Skelwith share the same 76 × 51cm footprint. Skelwith is walled on all four sides for dogs who burrow. Hartsop leaves two sides open for dogs who like to stretch a leg out or watch the room. Esthwaite is the same L-shape at 112 × 84cm, for bigger dogs.

Measure your dog curled up, and lying on their side from nose to base of tail. The bolster takes up part of the outside footprint, so this suits small and medium dogs. If it is going in a crate, check the crate's inside measurements first. Not sure? Message us their breed and weight and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
Everyday care
Unzip the cover and wash it following the sewn-in care label. Air-dry fully before refitting. Never wash or soak the foam. The bed arrives compressed, so give the foam 24 to 48 hours to recover its full shape.
If your dog is in pain, recovering or finding it hard to move, speak to your vet about the right resting surface. A bed is for comfort. It is not a treatment.
100 nights to decide. 5 years on the foam.
100 nights is longer than a whole winter. Plenty of time to know.
Try it at home for 100 nights from delivery. If it is not right, we arrange free UK mainland collection and a full refund. One trial per household; damage and other exclusions apply. The foam core also has a 5-year no-flatten guarantee under normal domestic use, subject to the guarantee terms; cover wear and pet damage are not included. Read the full returns and guarantee terms.
