Rain coming sideways, mud to the elbows, and a dog who comes through the door and heads straight for their bed before you can reach the towel. A soft fabric bed soaks all of that up and smells of it for a week. Honister wipes clean. The coated Oxford cover shrugs off wet paws and muddy coats, and when it needs more than a wipe, it comes off for the machine. Underneath, egg-crate foam keeps their shoulders and hips off the hard floor, whether that is the boot room, the conservatory or the garden.

What they get

A cover that wipes clean: PVC-coated 600D Oxford fabric that resists water, mud and spills.

Egg-crate foam: Up to 9cm of profiled foam that spreads their weight.

Indoors or out: Made for the kitchen, the porch, the garden or the campsite.

Easy to move: A side carry handle for taking it from room to room or into the car.

A cooling layer: Built in under the surface for warmer days.

Best for: Large outdoorsy dogs, muddy-walk households and anyone who wants one bed for the garden and the kitchen.

Why it is worth the money

A muddy dog on a fabric bed means a wash every few days and a bed that never quite smells clean.
